What is ADR?
The phrase Alternative Dispute Resolution covers a variety of processes that provide an alternative to litigation through the courts. The two principal ADR processes are Arbitration and Mediation but there are a number of other techniques including:
Adjudication
Conciliation
Early Neutral Evaluation
Expert Determination
Ombudsman or Regulator schemes
Many of our clients have found that we can help them to resolve their disputes without having to go through the ordeal of court proceedings. We believe that ADR, in the right type of case, can produce a better result than litigation. Since the Civil Procedure Rules came in to effect in April 1999 the courts have increasingly adjourned cases for ADR to take place.
