Inquests

The St Philips Inquest group is made up of a team of highly motivated barristers who can offer levels of experience and representation right across the professional spectrum. They cover everything from deaths in custody and medical institutions to fatalities in the work place and by accident. Whether the death is a precursor to civil or criminal action, St Philips seeks to offer continuity of representation right through the inquisitorial and legal proceedings.

The Human Rights Act has had a significant effect on the conduct of inquests particularly with the imposition of the investigative obligation under Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Members of the group regularly appear in cases which engage that Article whether it be for families, employers or employees.

The group contributes regularly to the quarterly St Philips Regulatory Brief magazine and offer lectures and training sessions aimed at ensuring those who deal with parties at inquests do so with the right level of professionalism and care.
