St Philips Chambers is delighted to announce that John Edwards has been appointed as a Circuit Judge and will formally be known as His Honour Judge John Edwards.

John’s appointment comes on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lidington MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon. He will take the customary Oath of Allegiance and the Judicial Oath at a swearing in ceremony before the Lord Chief Justice at the Royal Courts of Justice, before being deployed to the Northern Circuit, based at Manchester Crown Court with effect from 22 January 2018.

John has been a specialist crime practitioner for over 30 years and was the creator of the ‘St Philips’ name

St Philips are extremely proud of John’s elevation and wish him every success in his new role.
